Best Summer Foundations for Women of Colour
I dislike wearing makeup in the summertime. It is not my thing, but I am testing out some, to move out of my comfort zone. And lo and behold, I found four that I can actually wear without looking like a total grease ball!
The Fit me! Foundations by Maybelline is at the top of my short summer list.
I have the 2 formulas you see here, the matte poreless in Mocha (360) and the dewy smooth in Coconut (355). I purchased the later because that was the only formula and I wanted to give the color a try. I do have oily/combo skin and it worked pretty decent. No makeup and no primer has ever been able to stop me from being sweating. I then got the first one and I love it. I wear them separately or I mix them together. Surprising both look really nice on me and I was pleasantly shocked with the color difference. Plus the dewy formula has a SPF of 18 and I love foundations with SPF in it. Absolutely love!
My next foundation is the Healthy Skin by Neturogena
It has a SPF of 20 and it goes on perfectly. A really good match, it dries kind of dewy on my skin but not really. This was the only color left in the section, and I really wasn't sure it would match because it looked like it had a cool undertone, I am warm but was thinking I will see how the finish is, and just get another color depending on what this does to my complexion. Again, another really good foundation that I love.
My 3rd summer foundation is the CC Cream by Mary Kay.
It has a SPF of 15 and it delivers just enough coverage without overdoing it. I have it in the color Deep, and it also comes in Dark ( a newer shade). This has the easiest application and I adore it. I just put 1 1/2 pumps on my fingers and rub it on my face like moisturizer. The coverage is good, it isn't patchy, and it goes on like a dream.
My final foundation is the Queen CoverGirl CC Cream in Sheer Espresso.
This was actually to dark for me so I just used a dime size amount and mixed it with my moisturizer and it worked perfectly. I had a hard time finding it. It was not in Target, even though the section was clearly labeled CoverGirl Queen Collection, it was instead filled with Katy Perry's collection. So I just went on shopping and ended up finding it in the Dollar General. Like ALL the collection, I was thinking what the hell. But I grabbed a few items from the line to try it out. It is a keeper.
These 4 brands I think are perfect for those who are new to makeup and want to try something light, quick, with and without SPF. These are an easy find at Ulta, or their respective websites and even Amazon (most likely at a cheaper price).
Some other options I don't use but have heard fantastic things about are:
Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream
Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 35
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20
