Beauty in every shade: Angélica Daas

In this moving TED Talk,  Angélica Daas acknowledges the complexities of skin tone, specifically how skin color is unfortunately used to ascribe positive or negative characteristics to people.

Influenced by the pervasive racial inequity she experienced as a dark-skinned woman born in Brazil, Angélica created Humanae, a portrait photography project that challenges how we think about skin color and ethnic identity.

Comprised of 2,200 and growing portraits of people from all over the world, the backdrop of each portrait is a Pantone color that matches the skin color of the subject.
